Meet Sandra

Animals have always been at the heart of everything I do. From an early age I felt a natural connection with them, but it wasn't until later in life that I realised I could turn that interest into a career. I went on to study Animal Management and Zoology, then started working professionally with animals of all shapes and sizes, from domestic pets, to some of the planet's most incredible predatory species.

In my 40's now, and with over two decades of professional experience, I've developed the calm, steady approach that only time and real-world work can teach.

Professional Experience

Most recently I worked as an animal carer at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Yaverland, focusing predominantly on the welfare of big cats.

Before joining Wildheart I ran a small but successful pet care and dog walking business (Sit Stay Walk) based in Bembridge, and had also worked as a Zookeeper at the wonderful Seaview Wildlife Encounter. Earlier in my career, I was also an Animal Welfare Officer for many years, based in London.

I qualified as a BIAZA/ABTC Zoo Animal Trainer in 2022, and this, combined with my experience in the industry, has taught me to be a calm, observant, and responsive carer, always paying close attention to each animal's behaviour, body language, and individual needs.

Returning to Pet Care

After many years working with exotics in a high-pressure environment, I decided it was time to return to what I love, caring for pets and working within the local community.

Since December 2025 I have been offering a full range of services, based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and covering the surrounding local areas.

Whether it's dog walking, home visits, or a bit of extra company while you're away, my goal is always the same: to make sure every animal feels safe, understood, and happy, while giving you total peace of mind.

I won't just feed your pets and rush off (unless you want me to!) I'll take time to make sure your animals, your home, and your space are all properly looked after. I go the extra mile as standard, at no extra cost.

Need the bins put out? Plants watered? Mail brought in? Curtains closed? Consider it done. If your vase of roses needs a dead-head, or there's a rotten banana in the fruit bowl, I'll take care of that too. My personal touch gives you complete peace of mind.

Outside of Work

I live in Ryde with my partner Tony, a Tree Surgeon, our two beautiful dogs, Jake & Reggie, a rehomed tortoise, Herbina, and a rehomed axolotl, Keith. When I'm not working, I'm often outdoors, I love an adventure, and as well as camping and hiking I'm a trustee for Bembridge Scout Group.

I do love a challenge and have taken part in some extreme events to fundraise for the Charity close to my heart, my former employer The Wildheart Trust. In 2024 & 2025, to help raise funds for the safe rescue of Brown Bears Benji & Balu, I've completed the National Three Peaks Challenge (in under 24 hours!), and walked non-stop around the Isle of Wight (over 100km!) so you can rest assured if you have an active breed, they will be well exercised with me!
