About Walks With Sandra - Your Trusted Pet Care Provider

Meet Sandra

Animals have always been at the heart of what I do. From an early age I felt a natural connection, but it wasn't until later in life that I turned that interest into a career.

I studied Animal Management and Zoology, then began a wonderful career working professionally with animals of all shapes and sizes, from domestic pets, through to some of the planet's most magnificent predatory species.

In my 40's now, and with over two decades of professional experience, I've developed a mature, calm, steady approach to animal care that only time and real-world work can teach.

Professional Experience

Most recently I worked as an animal carer at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, where I spent 8 years dedicating myself to the welfare and training of big cats.

Before joining Wildheart I ran a small successful pet care and dog walking business (Sit Stay Walk) based in Bembridge, and also worked as a Zookeeper at the wonderful Seaview Wildlife Encounter. Earlier in my career, I was an Animal Welfare Officer for many years, based in London.

I qualified as an ABTC Zoo Animal Trainer in 2022, and this, combined with my experience in the industry, has taught me to be a calm, observant, and responsive carer, always paying close attention to each animal's behaviour, body language, and individual needs.

Returning to Pet Care

After many years working with exotics in a high-pressure environment, I decided it was time to return to what I love, caring for pets and working within the local community.

Since 2025 I have been offering a range of services, based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and covering the surrounding local areas.

Whether it's dog walking, home visits, or a bit of extra company while you're away, my goal is always the same: to make sure every animal feels safe, understood, and happy, while giving you total peace of mind.

I won't just feed your pets and rush off (unless you want me to!) I'll take time to make sure your animals, your home, and your space are all properly looked after. I go the extra mile as standard.

Need the bins put out? Plants watered? Mail brought in? Curtains closed? Consider it done. If your vase of flowers have wilted, or there's a rotten banana in the fruit bowl, I'll take care of that too.

Outside of Work

I live in Ryde with my partner Tony, a Tree Surgeon, our two beautiful dogs, Jake & Reggie, and our rehomed tortoise, Herbina, and axolotl, Keith. When I'm not working, I'm often outdoors, I love an adventure, and as well as camping and hiking I'm a trustee for Bembridge Scout Group.

I do love a challenge and have taken part in some extreme events to fundraise for the Charity close to my heart, The Wildheart Trust. In 2024 & 2025, to help raise funds for the safe rescue of Brown Bears Benji & Balu, I completed the National Three Peaks Challenge (in under 24 hours!), and the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge (over 100km!) so you can rest assured if you have an active breed, they will be well exercised with me!
